Selena Gomez has a brand new project in the works, and according to our friends at Deadline, this will be her first huge starring role! According to the reports, Universal Pictures is adapting the book 13 Reasons Why into a movie.
It sounds like it’s going to be a pretty dramatic role for Selena; the movie is about a shy California high school student who returns from school to find a box waiting on his doorstep. It contains seven cassette tapes recorded by Hanna Baker, the classmate he had a crush on.
Before she committed suicide, Hannah sent the tapes to one classmate with instructions to pass them on to a list of students like a chain letter. The tapes explain to 13 people how they played a role in her death.
Wowzer! Talk about a heavy plot! We don’t know about you, but we’re really looking forward to seeing this new side to Selena’s acting skills!
